In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in the Indian non-medical x-ray market, when its value increased by 24% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption saw a strong increase. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, exports of non-medical x-rays from India reduced rapidly to X tons, declining by -37.8% against 2020 figures. Overall, exports showed a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-medical x-ray exports declined sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 67% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Myanmar (X tons), the United States (X kg) and the United Arab Emirates (X kg) were the main destinations of non-medical x-ray exports from India, with a combined 46% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Indonesia, Germany, Singapore, Nigeria, Kenya, Bangladesh and South Korea, which together accounted for a further 39%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +73.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Myanmar ($X), the United States ($X) and Indonesia ($X) were the largest markets for non-medical x-ray exported from India worldwide, together accounting for 50% of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, Nigeria, Singapore, Kenya, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates and South Korea, which together accounted for a further 34%.

South Korea, with a CAGR of +72.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average non-medical x-ray export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, non-medical x-ray export price increased by +64.4% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 24%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of non-medical x-rays, when their volume increased by 29% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 53%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-medical x-ray imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 43%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Germany (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-medical x-ray imports to India, with a combined 50% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Singapore (with a CAGR of +39.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-medical x-ray suppliers to India were Germany ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Singapore ($X), with a combined 49% share of total imports.

Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the countries with the highest prices were Germany ($X per ton) and Malaysia ($X per ton), while the price for France ($X per ton) and China ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
