Nepal (X square meters) was the main destination for photographic paper exports from India, accounting for a 68% share of total exports. Moreover, photographic paper exports to Nepal exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Singapore (X square meters), fivefold. Malaysia (X square meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Nepal amounted to +2.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Singapore (+8.7% per year) and Malaysia (+1.8% per year).
In value terms, Nepal ($X) remains the key foreign market for photographic paper, paperboard and textiles exports from India, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Nepal amounted to +14.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Singapore (-13.3% per year) and Malaysia (-5.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average photographic paper export price stood at $X per square meter in 2021, with a decrease of -6.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 74%. In 2021, the amount of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles imported into India surged to X square meters, rising by 67% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a precipitous curtailment. Imports peaked at X square meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, photographic paper imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the United States (X square meters) constituted the largest supplier of photographic paper to India, accounting for a 77% share of total imports. Moreover, photographic paper imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X square meters), sixfold. The United Arab Emirates (X square meters) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United States stood at -13.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (-26.7% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+13.3% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles to India, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the United States stood at -7.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (-22.0% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+3.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average photographic paper import price amounted to $X per square meter, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 17%.
