The Indian printing press market skyrocketed to $X in 2022, picking up by 17% against the previous year. In general, consumption recorded significant growth. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, printing press production reduced slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, recorded a pronounced descent. Printing press exports from India dropped significantly to X units in 2022, falling by -24.5% compared with the year before. Overall, exports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 117% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, printing press exports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Nepal (X units), China (X units) and Poland (X units) were the main destinations of printing press exports from India, together comprising 34% of total exports. Germany, Bahrain, Angola, the United States, Tanzania, Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Slovenia and Bangladesh lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 46%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Angola (with a CAGR of +150.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for printing press exported from India were Bangladesh ($X), the United States ($X) and Nepal ($X), together comprising 27% of total exports. China, the United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, Angola, Argentina, Germany, Qatar, Slovenia, Bahrain and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Angola, with a CAGR of +119.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average printing press export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 44% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt slump. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, approx. X units of printing presses were imported into India; increasing by 31% against the previous year. In general, imports showed a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 109% against the previous year.
