In value terms, sanitary towel and diaper exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw buoyant growth. In value terms, Nepal ($X) remains the key foreign market for sanitary towels, tampons, napkins and diapers exports from India, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Bangladesh ($X), with a 7.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Bhutan, with a 6.6% share.

From 2013 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Nepal amounted to +28.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bangladesh (+19.3% per year) and Bhutan (+66.9% per year).

In 2021, imports of sanitary towels, tampons, napkins and diapers into India soared to X tons, rising by 38% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 91%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
