In value terms, pyrotechnic articles exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed perceptible growth. The Philippines (X tons) was the main destination for pyrotechnic articles exports from India, with a 49% share of total exports. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X kg), with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the Philippines totaled +18.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sri Lanka (+9.9% per year) and Italy (+2.8% per year).

In value terms, the Philippines ($X), Italy ($X) and Sri Lanka ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for pyrotechnic articles exported from India worldwide, together accounting for 51% of total exports.

The Philippines, with a CAGR of +25.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average pyrotechnic articles export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 57% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted a notable increase. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uganda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+60.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into India

In 2021, purchases abroad of signalling flares, rain rockets, fog signals and other pyrotechnic articles decreased by -22.6% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. Overall, imports recorded a mild contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 152% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, pyrotechnic articles imports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, France (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of pyrotechnic articles to India, with a 26% share of total imports. Moreover, pyrotechnic articles imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), fourfold. Sweden (X kg) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from France totaled +15.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+4.6% per year) and Sweden (+6.6% per year).

In value terms, France ($X), Russia ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest pyrotechnic articles suppliers to India, together accounting for 58% of total imports. Sweden, Canada, Italy, Singapore, Denmark and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 5%.

Among the main suppliers, Canada, with a CAGR of +55.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 156% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
