These countries were followed by the United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Yemen, Guinea, Uganda, Somalia, Congo, Togo and Senegal, which together accounted for a further 24%.
Somalia, with a CAGR of +42.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average export price for sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -1.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by 5.2%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uganda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers decreased by -4.4% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 67% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Indonesia (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons) were the main suppliers of sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer imports to India, together comprising 65% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Myanmar (with a CAGR of +60.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer suppliers to India were Indonesia ($X), Malaysia ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a combined 70% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Myanmar, Italy, Honduras, Bangladesh, the UK, China, Niger and Turkey, which together accounted for a further 20%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Honduras, with a CAGR of +39.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average import price for sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers amounted to $X per ton, growing by 21% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 22%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Niger ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Niger (+14.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
