Overall, export price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, passenger car tyre export price increased by +5.5% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 46%. Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nepal (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into India
In 2021, overseas purchases of tyres for motor cars decreased by -18.5% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after four years of growth. Overall, imports faced a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 7.2%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, passenger car tyre imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt setback. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Thailand (X units), China (X units) and the UK (X units) were the main suppliers of passenger car tyre imports to India, together accounting for 75% of total imports. Germany, Indonesia, the Philippines, Romania, Japan and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +26.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, Thailand ($X) constituted the largest supplier of tyres for motor cars to India, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Thailand amounted to -6.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-13.8% per year) and Germany (-0.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average passenger car tyre import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 47% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
