Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

These countries were followed by Spain, Japan, Bangladesh, Taiwan (Chinese) and the United States, which together accounted for a further 17%.

In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 13% against the previous year.
