Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Bhutan (X litres), Nepal (X litres) and the United States (X litres) were the main destinations of non-mineral or non-aerated water exports from India, together comprising 62% of total exports. Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Australia, Guyana, France, South Africa, the UK and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by South Africa (with a CAGR of +53.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Bhutan ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for non-mineral or non-aerated water exported from India worldwide, with a combined 59% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Canada, Nepal, Australia, Singapore, the UK, Guyana, France, Malaysia and South Africa, which together accounted for a further 32%.
Among the main countries of destination, South Africa, with a CAGR of +67.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average non-mineral or non-aerated water export price stood at $X per litre in 2021, growing by 48% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 104%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Nepal ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Myanmar (+120.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, Bhutan (X litres) constituted the largest non-mineral or non-aerated water supplier to India, accounting for a 83% share of total imports. Moreover, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports from Bhutan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the UK (X litres), eightfold. The Netherlands (X litres) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Bhutan stood at +126.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+101.6% per year) and the Netherlands (+19.1% per year).
In value terms, Bhutan ($X), the UK ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest non-mineral or non-aerated water suppliers to India, with a combined 91% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, the UK, with a CAGR of +102.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average non-mineral or non-aerated water import price stood at $X per litre in 2021, jumping by 29% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 70%. The import price peaked at $X per litre in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per litre), while the price for Bhutan ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
