In general, total exports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +38.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for unvulcanized rubber exports from India, accounting for a 17% share of total exports. Moreover, unvulcanized rubber exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Israel (X tons), with a 5.7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States stood at +6.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+14.7% per year) and Israel (+36.2% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for unvulcanized rubber and articles thereof exports from India, comprising 23% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 4.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 3.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States amounted to +8.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+12.4% per year) and Turkey (+8.8% per year).

The average unvulcanized rubber export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the export price saw a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Imports into India
In 2022, imports of unvulcanized rubber and articles thereof into India soared to X tons, rising by 21% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, unvulcanized rubber imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports posted a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 39%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Thailand (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) were the main suppliers of unvulcanized rubber imports to India, together accounting for 70% of total imports. Canada, Indonesia, China, South Korea, Belgium, Germany and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Indonesia (with a CAGR of +50.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Thailand ($X), Malaysia ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the largest unvulcanized rubber suppliers to India, with a combined 60% share of total imports. South Korea, Germany, Indonesia, China, Italy, Belgium and Canada lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 27%.
Among the main suppliers, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +52.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average unvulcanized rubber import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 8.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Canada ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
