Imports into India

In 2022, overseas purchases of vices and clamps increased by 35% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, vices and clamps imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a noticeable reduction. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest vices and clamps supplier to India, accounting for a 39% share of total imports. Moreover, vices and clamps imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 13% share.
