The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 2,069%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Bangladesh (X tons) was the main destination for enamels and glazes exports from India, accounting for a 65% share of total exports. Moreover, enamels and glazes exports to Bangladesh exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Saudi Arabia (X tons), threefold. Sri Lanka (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.9% share.

The second position in the ranking was held by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Sri Lanka, with a 6.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Bangladesh totaled +167.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Saudi Arabia (+75.1% per year) and Sri Lanka (+98.9% per year).

The average enamels and glazes export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -4.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 34% against the previous year. Imports into India
In 2021, supplies from abroad of vitrifiable enamels and glazes for ceramics, enamelling or glass increased by 30% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after three years of decline. In general, imports continue to indicate a mild increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 127%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, enamels and glazes imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a strong expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of enamels and glazes imports to India, together comprising 33% of total imports. These countries were followed by Hong Kong SAR, Italy and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 17%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Hong Kong SAR (with a CAGR of +45.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
