The United States (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Togo (X tons) were the main destinations of man-made filament fabric exports from India, with a combined 43% share of total exports. Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Sri Lanka, the UK, Nigeria, Italy, Iran and Nepal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 45%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Burkina Faso (with a CAGR of +70.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for man-made filament fabric exported from India were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Bangladesh ($X) and the United States ($X), with a combined 33% share of total exports. Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, the UK, Nepal, Togo, Nigeria, Italy, Iran, Senegal and Burkina Faso lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Burkina Faso, with a CAGR of +65.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average man-made filament fabric export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 18% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a perceptible downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 73%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Burkina Faso ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, imports of woven fabrics of man-made filaments and staple fibers into India skyrocketed to X tons, rising by 58% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 188% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, man-made filament fabric imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a strong increase. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest man-made filament fabric supplier to India, accounting for a 73% share of total imports. Moreover, man-made filament fabric imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Indonesia (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Malaysia (X tons), with a 2.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to -1.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+2.8% per year) and Malaysia (-1.7% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of woven fabrics of man-made filaments and staple fibers to India, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a 3.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Taiwan (Chinese), with a 3.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +4.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+4.7% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-3.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average man-made filament fabric import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -3.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price faced a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 41% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton.
