The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 103% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aluminium pipe fittings exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 135%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Italy (X tons) was the main destination for aluminium pipe fittings exports from Indonesia, accounting for a 91% share of total exports. Moreover, aluminium pipe fittings exports to Italy exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Timor-Leste (X tons), with a 2.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Italy was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (-9.7% per year) and Timor-Leste (+14.2% per year).
In value terms, Italy ($X) remains the key foreign market for aluminium tube or pipe fittings exports from Indonesia, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with a 28% share of total exports. It was followed by Timor-Leste, with a 0.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Italy amounted to +1.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (+3.6% per year) and Timor-Leste (+16.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average aluminium pipe fittings export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 27%. The export price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Timor-Leste ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+14.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Indonesia
For the fifth consecutive year, Indonesia recorded decline in supplies from abroad of aluminium tube or pipe fittings, which decreased by -8.2% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 123% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, aluminium pipe fittings imports reached $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 113% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Japan (X tons) were the main suppliers of aluminium pipe fittings imports to Indonesia, together accounting for 87% of total imports. These countries were followed by South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan (Chinese), Malaysia and France, which together accounted for a further 11%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +34.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest aluminium pipe fittings suppliers to Indonesia were Thailand ($X), China ($X) and Japan ($X), with a combined 89% share of total imports. Taiwan (Chinese), South Korea, Singapore, France and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 6.5%.
In terms of the main suppliers, South Korea, with a CAGR of +35.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average aluminium pipe fittings import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 9.9% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 31% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the price for Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+17.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
