The Indonesian barbed wire market shrank to $X in 2021, falling by -11.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last nine years. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, barbed wire exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed perceptible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 490%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Belgium (X tons), India (X tons) and Australia (X tons) were the main destinations of barbed wire exports from Indonesia, together comprising 67% of total exports. These countries were followed by Thailand, New Zealand, the Philippines, the UK and Timor-Leste, which together accounted for a further 31%.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 292%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
