Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, bedspread exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep slump. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Singapore (X units), the United States (X units) and Malaysia (X units) were the main destinations of bedspread exports from Indonesia, with a combined 57% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates, Japan, Taiwan (Chinese), Timor-Leste, Turkey, New Zealand, Georgia, the UK, Latvia and China lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for New Zealand (with a CAGR of +86.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the key foreign market for bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns) exports from Indonesia, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Singapore totaled -4.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-1.8% per year) and Japan (+76.4% per year).

The average bedspread export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 85% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a resilient expansion. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+16.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Bedspread imports into Indonesia surged to X units in 2021, growing by 56% compared with the previous year. In general, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 376%. Imports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bedspread imports totaled $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 262% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X units) was the main bedspread supplier to Indonesia, with a 95% share of total imports. It was followed by India (X units), with a 2.2% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +56.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+24.1% per year) and Singapore (-6.8% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns) to Indonesia, comprising 91% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 3.8% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +41.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+24.3% per year) and Singapore (-8.8% per year).
