In value terms, book and brochure exports reduced rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Malaysia (X units), Lebanon (X units) and Myanmar (X units) were the main destinations of book and brochure exports from Indonesia, with a combined 55% share of total exports. Singapore, Japan, the United States, Jordan, South Korea, Bangladesh, Cyprus, the Philippines, Pakistan and Brazil lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.

The average book and brochure export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 54% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a resilient expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Lebanon ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of books, brochures and similar printed matter decreased by -12% to X units, falling for the third consecutive year after four years of growth. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, book and brochure imports rose notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 43%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Malaysia (X units), Singapore (X units) and China (X units) were the main suppliers of book and brochure imports to Indonesia, with a combined 71% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +11.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
