Cashew Nut Market Size in Indonesia

In value terms, cashew nut exports shrank sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 70% against the previous year. Vietnam (X tons) was the main destination for cashew nut exports from Indonesia, with a 82% share of total exports. Moreover, cashew nut exports to Vietnam exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, India (X tons), fivefold.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the key foreign market for cashew nut exports from Indonesia, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 17% share of total exports.

The average cashew nut export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 21%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam amounted to $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+1.7%).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2020, and then declined significantly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while the price for Benin ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (+12.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
