In 2022, overseas purchases of copper bars, rods and profiles increased by 2% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 96%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, copper bar, rod and profile imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a pronounced increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 137%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Thailand (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main suppliers of copper bar, rod and profile imports to Indonesia, with a combined 80% share of total imports.
