Disperse Dye Market Size in Indonesia

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in the Indonesian disperse dye market, when its value increased by 25% to $X. Overall, the total consumption indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption decreased by -22.0% against 2018 indices. Disperse dye consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2015, thus ending a five-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a slight shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, disperse dye exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Singapore (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of disperse dye exports from Indonesia, with a combined 40% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Taiwan (Chinese), Turkey, China, Mexico, Thailand, Honduras, Switzerland, Brazil and Japan, which together accounted for a further 47%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +42.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for disperse dye exported from Indonesia were Singapore ($X), Vietnam ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together comprising 40% of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +62.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average disperse dye export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -5.5% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+14.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Indonesia

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon increased by 52% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, disperse dye imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -14.9% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 43%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of disperse dye to Indonesia, with a 81% share of total imports. Moreover, disperse dye imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), ninefold. South Korea (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+3.1% per year) and South Korea (+10.6% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon to Indonesia, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 6.9% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +6.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+6.4% per year) and South Korea (+12.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average disperse dye import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, disperse dye import price decreased by -18.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 25%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
