In 2021, the Indonesian market for drawn glass and blown glass decreased by -1.6% to $X for the first time since 2011, thus ending a nine-year rising trend. In general, the total consumption indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +73.7% against 2012 indices. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X square meters in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, drawn glass and blown glass exports dropped rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last nine-year period. Sri Lanka (X square meters), Peru (X square meters) and the Netherlands (X square meters) were the main destinations of drawn glass and blown glass exports from Indonesia, together comprising 52% of total exports. Uganda, Tanzania, Myanmar, India and Rwanda lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Tanzania (with a CAGR of +62.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average export price for drawn glass and blown glass amounted to $X per square meter, declining by -2.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted a moderate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 42%. The export price peaked at $X per square meter in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, overseas purchases of drawn glass and blown glass were finally on the rise to reach X square meters for the first time since 2012, thus ending a eight-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a sharp slump.
