Germany (X units), Japan (X units) and Singapore (X units) were the main destinations of diagnostic equipment exports from Indonesia.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +37.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus exports from Indonesia, comprising 47% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 12% share.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Japan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+15.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Indonesia
Diagnostic equipment imports into Indonesia shrank notably to X units in 2021, declining by -15.9% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +8.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 46%. Imports peaked at X units in 2020, and then plummeted in the following year.
In value terms, diagnostic equipment imports fell dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 60%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) was the main supplier of diagnostic equipment to Indonesia, with a 382% share of total imports. Moreover, diagnostic equipment imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X units), threefold. South Korea (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 59% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +20.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+6.2% per year) and South Korea (-2.3% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus to Indonesia, comprising 36% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +24.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+9.1% per year) and South Korea (+4.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average diagnostic equipment import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -13.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average import price increased by 28%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per unit), while the price for Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
