The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -17.1% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, folding boxboard imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

China (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main suppliers of folding boxboard imports to Indonesia, together comprising 57% of total imports.
