In 2022, approx. X units of heat exchange units were exported from Indonesia; with a decrease of -8.4% compared with the previous year. In general, exports recorded a precipitous decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 172%. The exports peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, heat exchange unit exports shrank modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a dramatic decline. Singapore (X units) was the main destination for heat exchange unit exports from Indonesia, accounting for a 49% share of total exports. Moreover, heat exchange unit exports to Singapore exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Japan (X units), with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Singapore amounted to -4.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+34.8% per year) and Japan (+8.5% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for heat exchange unit exported from Indonesia were Japan ($X), Singapore ($X) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), together accounting for 86% of total exports.

Japan, with a CAGR of +29.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average heat exchange unit export price amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports into Indonesia

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of heat exchange units, when their volume decreased by -8% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 117%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, heat exchange unit imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 90%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

China (X units), South Korea (X units) and Malaysia (X units) were the main suppliers of heat exchange unit imports to Indonesia, together accounting for 88% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +24.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, the largest heat exchange unit suppliers to Indonesia were China ($X), South Korea ($X) and the United States ($X), together comprising 71% of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, South Korea, with a CAGR of +22.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average heat exchange unit import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 52% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a mild reduction. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
