In 2021, the Indonesian industrial robot market decreased by -10.1% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, consumption saw a mild shrinkage. Industrial robot consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then dropped notably in the following year.
In value terms, industrial robot exports shrank sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 2,110%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Russia (X units), Brazil (X units) and Malaysia (X units) were the main destinations of industrial robot exports from Indonesia, with a combined 86% share of total exports. Singapore and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 13%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United States (with a CAGR of +62.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X), Brazil ($X) and Singapore ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for industrial robot exported from Indonesia worldwide, together comprising 89% of total exports. Russia and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7.7%.
The United States, with a CAGR of +110.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average industrial robot export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 137%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+28.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Indonesia
In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of industrial robots for multiple uses, when their volume decreased by -7.3% to X units. Overall, imports, however, saw a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 51%. Imports peaked at X units in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, industrial robot imports dropped sharply to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a pronounced decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
China (X units), Japan (X units) and South Korea (X units) were the main suppliers of industrial robot imports to Indonesia, with a combined 87% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +37.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest industrial robot suppliers to Indonesia were Japan ($X), South Korea ($X) and China ($X), with a combined 75% share of total imports.
South Korea, with a CAGR of +47.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average industrial robot import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 9%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+21.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
