Manuka Market Size in Indonesia

In 2022, after five years of growth, there was decline in the Indonesian manuka market, when its value decreased by -1% to $X. Overall, consumption, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. Manuka consumption peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

After four years of growth, purchases abroad of manuka decreased by -6.5% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 104% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, manuka imports stood at $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 109% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Thailand (X tons), New Zealand (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the main suppliers of manuka imports to Indonesia, with a combined 71% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by New Zealand (with a CAGR of +62.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest manuka suppliers to Indonesia were New Zealand ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Thailand ($X), together comprising 80% of total imports.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
