The Indonesian market for mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings dropped slightly to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -4.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

In value terms, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Saudi Arabia (X tons), Egypt (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons) were the main destinations of mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports from Indonesia, together comprising 50% of total exports. Turkey, Malaysia, the Philippines, Croatia, Morocco, Thailand, Sudan, Timor-Leste, Singapore and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, the amount of mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings imported into Indonesia declined modestly to X tons, waning by -3.7% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 46%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning imports declined modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a resilient expansion. Malaysia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 15% share.

Singapore, South Korea, the United States and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +17.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings stood at $X per ton in 2022, stabilizing at the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a mild decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
