In 2021, overseas purchases of needles, catheters, cannulae decreased by -51.2% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after five years of growth. In general, imports continue to indicate a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 45%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, needles, catheters, cannulae imports declined remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest needles, catheters, cannulae supplier to Indonesia, accounting for a 40% share of total imports. Moreover, needles, catheters, cannulae imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Malaysia (X units), threefold.
