In value terms, plastic household ware exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +51.7% against 2017 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
The United States (X tons) was the main destination for plastic household ware exports from Indonesia, accounting for a 28% share of total exports. Moreover, plastic household ware exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Malaysia (X tons), threefold. Saudi Arabia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States totaled +24.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (+0.7% per year) and Saudi Arabia (-9.2% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for plastics household articles and toilet articles exports from Indonesia, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 9% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with an 8.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States stood at +40.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+37.4% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+4.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average plastic household ware export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 7.5% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 20% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Timor-Leste ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+18.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of plastics household articles and toilet articles was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports saw a prominent expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, plastic household ware imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 54% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of plastic household ware to Indonesia, accounting for a 87% share of total imports. Moreover, plastic household ware imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Malaysia (X tons), more than tenfold. Singapore (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +14.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (-2.2% per year) and Singapore (+7.9% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of plastics household articles and toilet articles to Indonesia, comprising 78% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 7.1% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 3.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +10.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+12.2% per year) and Malaysia (-2.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average plastic household ware import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the price for Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
