Imports into Indonesia
For the third year in a row, Indonesia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of potato starch, which increased by 13% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, potato starch imports reduced slightly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then declined modestly in the following year.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), France (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of potato starch imports to Indonesia, with a combined 46% share of total imports. Denmark, Poland and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +22.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
