In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the key foreign market for radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus exports from Indonesia, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 6.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 3.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Japan was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-6.3% per year) and Belgium (+6.4% per year).

Imports into Indonesia

In 2022, overseas purchases of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus were finally on the rise to reach X units after two years of decline. In general, total imports indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 200% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

China (X units), Thailand (X units) and Singapore (X units) were the main suppliers of radar apparatus imports to Indonesia, together accounting for 53% of total imports. Hong Kong SAR, the United States, Japan, Malaysia, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Australia and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.

The average radar apparatus import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 60% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 73%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
