Italy (X square meters), Thailand (X square meters) and Malaysia (X square meters) were the main destinations of sheep leather exports from Indonesia, with a combined 86% share of total exports. Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Vietnam, Japan and Hong Kong SAR lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 13%.

The average sheep leather export price stood at $X per square meter in 2021, picking up by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 49%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per square meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+12.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Indonesia
In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of sheep or lamb skin leather, when their volume increased by 13% to X square meters. Overall, imports, however, showed a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 21%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X square meters. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, sheep leather imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Kenya (X square meters), Syrian Arab Republic (X square meters) and Tunisia (X square meters) were the main suppliers of sheep leather imports to Indonesia, with a combined 62% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Tunisia (with a CAGR of +51.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kenya ($X), Syrian Arab Republic ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X) constituted the largest sheep leather suppliers to Indonesia, with a combined 58% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Tunisia, Uganda, Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey, which together accounted for a further 24%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per square meter), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
