Silver Ore Market Size in Indonesia

In 2021, the Indonesian silver ore market was finally on the rise to reach $X after three years of decline. In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Silver ore consumption peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

China (X tons) was the main destination for silver ore exports from Indonesia, with a approx. 100% share of total exports.

In value terms, China ($X) also remains the key foreign market for silver ore exports from Indonesia.

In 2021, approx. X tons of silver ores and concentrates were imported into Indonesia; reducing by -6.2% against 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 6,162%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, silver ore imports shrank dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 10,561% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Romania (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of silver ore to Indonesia, with a 73% share of total imports. Moreover, silver ore imports from Romania exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Singapore (X kg), threefold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Romania stood at +1,187.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (+2.9% per year) and Australia (-21.4% per year).

Romania, with a CAGR of +1,460.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, the average silver ore import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -22.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 137% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the price for Australia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7,001.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
