In 2021, after five years of decline, there was significant growth in the Indonesian ski-suit market, when its value increased by 8.7% to $X. Overall, consumption, however, saw a perceptible decline. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Indonesia

For the third consecutive year, Indonesia recorded growth in shipments abroad of ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles), which increased by 85% to X units in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 189%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, ski-suit exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 315%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The UK (X units), China (X units) and Sweden (X units) were the main destinations of ski-suit exports from Indonesia, with a combined 35% share of total exports. Mexico, the United States, Bulgaria, South Korea, Brazil, Portugal, Ukraine, Austria, Singapore and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Mexico (with a CAGR of +59.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X), the UK ($X) and Singapore ($X) constituted the largest markets for ski-suit exported from Indonesia worldwide, with a combined 30% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Ukraine, Bulgaria, South Korea, Italy, Sweden, Austria and Portugal, which together accounted for a further 37%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Mexico, with a CAGR of +66.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average ski-suit export price amounted to $X per unit, surging by 9.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 43%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Portugal ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Indonesia

In 2021, ski-suit imports into Indonesia reduced sharply to X units, with a decrease of -75.4% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 226%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
