In value terms, sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer exports totaled $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

China (X tons) was the main destination for sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer exports from Indonesia, accounting for a 30% share of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with an 8.5% share.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 39%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 47%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Malaysia (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer imports to Indonesia, with a combined 78% share of total imports. Germany, China and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 8.9%.
