Overall, total exports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -43.7% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Turkey (X units) was the main destination for glass bottle, jar and container exports from Iran, accounting for a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, glass bottle, jar and container exports to Turkey exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Azerbaijan (X units), fourfold. The United Arab Emirates (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Turkey was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Azerbaijan (-1.7% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+47.4% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the key foreign market for bottles, jars and other containers of glass exports from Iran, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Azerbaijan ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Turkey was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Azerbaijan (+13.0% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+35.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average export price for bottles, jars and other containers of glass stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 20% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 22% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Glass bottle, jar and container imports into Iran contracted remarkably to X units in 2021, shrinking by -24.7% on 2020 figures. Overall, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 80%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, glass bottle, jar and container imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, posted a moderate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 104% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest glass bottle, jar and container supplier to Iran, accounting for a 84% share of total imports. Moreover, glass bottle, jar and container imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X units), more than tenfold. The United Arab Emirates (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at -5.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+13.7% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-15.6% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of bottles, jars and other containers of glass to Iran, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 4.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 2.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +3.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-0.8% per year) and Turkey (+16.7% per year).

In 2021, the average import price for bottles, jars and other containers of glass amounted to $X per unit, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year.
