In 2021, the Iranian check valve market increased by 28% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, consumption, however, recorded a deep reduction. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

After four years of decline, shipments abroad of check valves for pipes, boiler shells, tanks and vats increased by 55% to X units in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 535% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, check valve exports shrank to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 375%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Oman (X units), Turkey (X units) and Armenia (X units) were the main destinations of check valve exports from Iran, together comprising 99% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Armenia (with a CAGR of +67.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, Oman ($X), Turkey ($X) and Armenia ($X) constituted the largest markets for check valve exported from Iran worldwide, together accounting for 97% of total exports.

Armenia, with a CAGR of +55.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Armenia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+210.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Iran

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of check valves for pipes, boiler shells, tanks and vats increased by 18% to X units in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 181% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, check valve imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 74%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest check valve supplier to Iran, accounting for a 71% share of total imports. Moreover, check valve imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X units), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X units), with a 6.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at -3.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+11.8% per year) and Italy (-12.4% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of check valves for pipes, boiler shells, tanks and vats to Iran, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 7.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 6.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at -4.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+14.1% per year) and Italy (-15.9% per year).

The average check valve import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 19% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable decrease.
