Moreover, crab and crab meat exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Thailand (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Kuwait (X tons), with a 3.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United Arab Emirates totaled +17.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (-33.0% per year) and Kuwait (+1.6% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for crab and crab meat exported from Iran were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Thailand ($X) and Kuwait ($X), together accounting for 75% of total exports.
Kuwait, with a CAGR of +23.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of crabs and crab meat decreased by 0% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 286%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
