Curtains Market Size in Iran

In 2022, the Iranian curtains market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2014, thus ending a seven-year declining trend. In general, consumption, however, recorded a deep contraction. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Exports from Iran

In 2022, curtains exports from Iran dropped significantly to X square meters, falling by -30.5% on 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 159%. The exports peaked at X square meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, curtains exports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 138% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Germany (X square meters) was the main destination for curtains exports from Iran, with a 23% share of total exports. Moreover, curtains exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Azerbaijan (X square meters), threefold. Denmark (X square meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany amounted to +20.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Azerbaijan (+5.7% per year) and Denmark (+29.3% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for curtains and interior blinds exports from Iran, comprising 27% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the UK ($X), with a 5.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Azerbaijan, with a 5.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany stood at +31.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (-30.1% per year) and Azerbaijan (+17.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average curtains export price amounted to $X per square meter, rising by 2.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 46%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per square meter. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iraq ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+17.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of curtains and interior blinds was finally on the rise to reach X square meters after seven years of decline. In general, imports, however, faced a abrupt contraction. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X square meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, curtains imports totaled $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 22%. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Turkey (X square meters) constituted the largest supplier of curtains to Iran, accounting for a 66% share of total imports. Moreover, curtains imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X square meters), twofold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Turkey stood at -9.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-23.7% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-39.8% per year).

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constituted the largest supplier of curtains and interior blinds to Iran, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 26% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Turkey stood at -13.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-20.4% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-38.9% per year).

In 2022, the average curtains import price amounted to $X per square meter, shrinking by -13.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, curtains import price increased by +18.0% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous year.
