Crane Market Size in Iran

The Iranian crane market surged to $X in 2022, increasing by 38% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. Crane consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Exports from Iran

For the third year in a row, Iran recorded growth in overseas shipments of derricks, cranes, mobile lifting frames, straddle carriers and work trucks fitted with a crane, which increased by 0.9% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 244% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, crane exports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports posted a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 349%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Armenia (X units), Uzbekistan (X units) and the UK (X units) were the main destinations of crane exports from Iran, together accounting for 89% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Armenia (with a CAGR of +119.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for crane exported from Iran were Armenia ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and the UK ($X), with a combined 87% share of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, Armenia, with a CAGR of +125.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average crane export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 7.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 85%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Armenia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tajikistan (+73.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Iran

Crane imports into Iran skyrocketed to X units in 2022, increasing by 26% on 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, crane imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Spain (X units), China (X units) and Armenia (X units) were the main suppliers of crane imports to Iran, with a combined 59% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Armenia (with a CAGR of +472.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Spain ($X) constituted the largest supplier of derricks, cranes, mobile lifting frames, straddle carriers and work trucks fitted with a crane to Iran, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 2.4% share.
