Egg Product Market Size in Iran
After two years of growth, the Iranian egg product market decreased by -4.2% to $X in 2021. In value terms, egg product exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 120% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Afghanistan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) were the main destinations of egg product exports from Iran.

In value terms, Afghanistan ($X) remains the key foreign market for egg products exports from Iran, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 31% share of total exports.

In 2021, the average egg product export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -3% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, egg product export price increased by +103.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 110% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Afghanistan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Afghanistan (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Egg Product Imports
Imports into Iran
In 2021, supplies from abroad of egg products increased by 1.5% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, imports recorded measured growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 137% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, egg product imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed notable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 94% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Ukraine (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of egg product imports to Iran, with a combined 78% share of total imports. India, China and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +50.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest egg product suppliers to Iran were Italy ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Ukraine ($X), with a combined 73% share of total imports. These countries were followed by India, China and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 27%.
Among the main suppliers, Belgium, with a CAGR of +43.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average egg product import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 27% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
