Baby Food Market Size in Iran
After three years of decline, the Iranian baby food market increased by 9.2% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption, however, recorded a perceptible descent. Baby food consumption peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of food preparations for infants, when their volume decreased by -53.4% to X tons. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 54%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then reduced notably in the following year.

The United Arab Emirates (X tons) was the main destination for baby food exports from Iran, with a 44% share of total exports. Moreover, baby food exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Oman (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Kuwait (X tons), with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United Arab Emirates totaled +4.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Oman (+5.4% per year) and Kuwait (+1.0% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for baby food exported from Iran were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Oman ($X) and Kuwait ($X), together comprising 78% of total exports. These countries were followed by Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Yemen, which together accounted for a further 20%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Qatar, with a CAGR of +23.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average baby food export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 6.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 10% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Afghanistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lebanon (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Iran
In 2021, purchases abroad of food preparations for infants increased by 131% to X tons, rising for the fifth year in a row after three years of decline. In general, imports enjoyed a prominent expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, baby food imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a buoyant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Ireland (X tons) were the main suppliers of baby food imports to Iran, together accounting for 47% of total imports. These countries were followed by Switzerland, Turkey, Spain and the United Arab Emirates, which together accounted for a further 6.3%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +24.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Ireland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of food preparations for infants to Iran, comprising 39% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Ireland totaled +3.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (-0.4% per year) and France (-0.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average baby food import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 3.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ireland (+16.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
