Plaster Market Size in Iran

In value terms, plaster exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 248% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

India (X tons), China (X tons) and Armenia (X tons) were the main destinations of plaster exports from Iran, with a combined 98% share of total exports.

The average plaster export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 6.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Armenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Afghanistan (+16.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plaster Imports
Imports into Iran
In 2022, the amount of plaster imported into Iran reduced to X tons, falling by -3.2% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 137% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, plaster imports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a mild expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 62%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of plaster to Iran, with a 80% share of total imports. Moreover, plaster imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), ninefold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Turkey stood at +5.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+15.6% per year) and Germany (-18.7% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constituted the largest supplier of plaster to Iran, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 13% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Turkey amounted to +17.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+20.0% per year) and Germany (-12.2% per year).

The average plaster import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -11.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 47% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+22.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
