In value terms, plastic household articles exports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 79% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Exports by Country
Azerbaijan (X tons) was the main destination for plastic household articles exports from Iran, accounting for a 46% share of total exports. Moreover, plastic household articles exports to Azerbaijan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kazakhstan (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Romania (X tons), with a 6.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Azerbaijan amounted to +78.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+13.4% per year) and Romania (+10.1% per year).
In value terms, Azerbaijan ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for household articles and toilet articles of plastics exports from Iran, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 6.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Romania, with a 6.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Azerbaijan amounted to +87.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+10.8% per year) and Romania (+20.0% per year).

The average plastic household articles export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 2.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 52% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Iran
In 2022, approx. X tons of household articles and toilet articles of plastics were imported into Iran; declining by -23.2% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports showed a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 91% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plastic household articles imports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 280% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, China (X tons) was the main plastic household articles supplier to Iran, accounting for a 94% share of total imports. Moreover, plastic household articles imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +9.9%.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of household articles and toilet articles of plastics to Iran, comprising 92% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 7% share of total imports.

The average plastic household articles import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 8.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 102% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the price for China totaled $X per ton.
