In value terms, inactive yeast exports contracted to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 949%. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Lebanon (X tons) was the main destination for inactive yeast exports from Iran, with a 53% share of total exports. Moreover, inactive yeast exports to Lebanon exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Tajikistan (X tons), twofold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Lebanon stood at -18.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tajikistan (-68.0% per year) and Azerbaijan (-25.7% per year).
In value terms, Lebanon ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for inactive yeasts and other dead single-cell micro-organisms exports from Iran, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Azerbaijan ($X), with a 26% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Lebanon stood at -24.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Azerbaijan (-20.1% per year) and Tajikistan (-83.9% per year).

The average inactive yeast export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 72% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 198% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+13.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Iran
After three years of decline, purchases abroad of inactive yeasts and other dead single-cell micro-organisms increased by 69% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, faced a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 204%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, inactive yeast imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 210% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Turkey (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of inactive yeast imports to Iran, together accounting for 54% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Lithuania and Germany, which together accounted for a further 8.9%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +295.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), Belgium ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest inactive yeast suppliers to Iran, together accounting for 52% of total imports.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +341.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average inactive yeast import price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -4.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 214%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+14.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
