Fungicide And Bactericide Market Size in Iran

The Iranian fungicide and bactericide market shrank significantly to $X in 2021, which is down by -40.2% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a buoyant increase. Fungicide and bactericide consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Iran

In 2021, shipments abroad of fungicides, bactericides and seed treatments decreased by -32.2% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 1,882% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fungicide and bactericide exports shrank markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 362% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Armenia (X tons) was the main destination for fungicide and bactericide exports from Iran, accounting for a 74% share of total exports. Moreover, fungicide and bactericide exports to Armenia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Azerbaijan (X tons), threefold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Armenia stood at +57.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Azerbaijan (+58.4% per year) and Uzbekistan (-55.8% per year).

In value terms, Armenia ($X) remains the key foreign market for fungicides, bactericides and seed treatments exports from Iran, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Azerbaijan ($X), with a 30% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Armenia totaled +35.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Azerbaijan (+80.5% per year) and Uzbekistan (-54.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average fungicide and bactericide export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 8.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 328%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Armenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Iran

In 2021, imports of fungicides, bactericides and seed treatments into Iran fell remarkably to X tons, waning by -50.9% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 131%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fungicide and bactericide imports contracted dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 163% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest fungicide and bactericide supplier to Iran, with a 48% share of total imports. Moreover, fungicide and bactericide imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkey (X tons), with a 6.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +3.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+74.0% per year) and Turkey (+13.4% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of fungicides, bactericides and seed treatments to Iran, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 4.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +6.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+81.7% per year) and Turkey (-0.1% per year).
