After three years of growth, the Iranian market for jams, jellies, puree and pastes decreased by -5.1% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Turkey (X tons) was the main destination for jam, jelly, puree and paste exports from Iran, accounting for a 70% share of total exports. Moreover, jam, jelly, puree and paste exports to Turkey exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Armenia (X tons), more than tenfold. Pakistan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 1.9% share.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for jams, jellies, puree and pastes exports from Iran, comprising 32% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Armenia ($X), with a 5.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Greece, with a 5.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Turkey totaled +83.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Armenia (+209.4% per year) and Greece (+4,268.2% per year).

The average export price for jams, jellies, puree and pastes stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -25.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In general, imports showed a strong expansion. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, jam, jelly, puree and paste imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a strong increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, India (X tons) was the main supplier of jam, jelly, puree and paste to Iran, with a 91% share of total imports. Moreover, jam, jelly, puree and paste imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from India amounted to +13.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+36.0% per year) and Greece (-23.5% per year).
