The Iranian market for meat of camels and other animals shrank slightly to $X in 2022, which is down by -4.6% against the previous year. In 2022, number of animals slaughtered for camel and other animal meat production in Iran contracted to X heads, which is down by -10.2% compared with the year before. For the third consecutive year, Iran recorded growth in overseas shipments of meat of camels and other animals, which increased by 34% to X tons in 2020. In general, exports posted a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 52%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, camel and other animal meat exports soared to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 53% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Oman (X tons) and Qatar (X tons) were the main destinations of camel and other animal meat exports from Iran.

From 2013 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Qatar (with a CAGR of +10.4%).
