Photographic Film Market Size in Iran

The Iranian photographic film market surged to $X in 2021, growing by 33% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). The United Arab Emirates (X square meters) and Georgia (X square meters) were the main destinations of photographic film exports from Iran.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Georgia (with a CAGR of +46.7%).

In value terms, Georgia ($X) remains the key foreign market for photographic plates and film, photographic paper, paperboard and textiles and instant print film, sensitized, unexposed exports from Iran, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 3.5% share of total exports.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Georgia ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates totaled $X per square meter.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Georgia (-13.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Iran

Photographic film imports into Iran surged to X square meters in 2021, rising by 26% against the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a deep setback. Imports peaked at X square meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, photographic film imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 39%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X square meters), China (X square meters) and Belgium (X square meters) were the main suppliers of photographic film imports to Iran, together comprising 52% of total imports. Turkey, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Turkey (with a CAGR of +3.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest photographic film suppliers to Iran were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Belgium ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 49% share of total imports.
