As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plum and sloe exports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 2,463%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
India (X tons) was the main destination for plum and sloe exports from Iran, accounting for a 93% share of total exports. Moreover, plum and sloe exports to India exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Armenia (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to India totaled +155.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Armenia (+74.9% per year) and Azerbaijan (+15.1% per year).
In value terms, India ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for plums and sloes exports from Iran, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Azerbaijan ($X), with a 20% share of total exports.
